I'm doing a lot of Illustrator work at the moment: making multiple frames and getting people to move efficiently requires a bit of illustrator magic here and there. I'm learning new little tricks with Illustrator every day so i thought i'd collect the most fun and useful tutorials that i come across right here:
Live trace:

This shows how to use Illustrator's live trace. Way way better than it used to be, perfect for simplifying a drawing to help animate stuff (I don't end up using the traced image straight, but use it as a guide - but you could if you wanted)
copying grouped/nested layers

Just a little thing, but if you want to copy layers between documents and preserve the structure, then this is how

What are 'frames' in Illustrator? and what do you mean by moving people?
making frames in illustrator
I should have been more specific - i'm helping make animations for Julian Opie's artwork. Each layer in illustrator can be converted to a frame in Flash if you export as SWF. Illustrator is a really good tool for making frame by frame animations if you want really fine control over everything - which in Opie's case he does.
